Jonathan Pierini is a graphic and type designer, researcher and educator. He earned his BA from ISIA Urbino and an MA in Type and Media from KABK, The Hague (NL). His involvement in research
and education began in 2011 as a Researcher and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Design of the Free University of Bolzano.
Since 2014 he had been teaching typography and editorial design at ISIA Urbino, where he was elected Director in 2017 and in 2020 for two three-years terms. From 2017 to 2023, his dedication to promoting visual culture led him to serve as editor-in-chief of Progetto Grafico magazine. Jonathan is co-founder with Francesco Delrosso of SS16 Studio, which develops concepts and designs for culture and commerce across various media, blending research, education and practice. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor in Graphic Design at the Università degli Studi di Urbino Carlo Bo and contributes regularly to La Repubblica newspaper writing about graphic design and visual communication.
